European Markets Likely To Open Flat In Final Week Of 2025

European stock markets are expected to open mostly flat at the start of the last trading week of the year.
Major indexes like the UK’s FTSE, Germany’s DAX, France’s CAC 40, and Italy’s FTSE MIB are likely to open slightly higher on Monday, according to market data.
Trading activity may remain low this week because of the Christmas holidays. Many European markets will also be closed on Thursday due to New Year’s Day.
Meanwhile, hopes for a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia before the end of the year are fading. U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said talks have made progress, but a few difficult issues are still unresolved.
Trump earlier aimed to finalize a peace deal before Christmas, but Ukraine and Russia are still far apart on key points like land control and security guarantees.
After their meeting in Florida, President Zelensky said about 90% of a peace plan had been agreed upon, including security guarantees. Trump said the deal was nearly complete but not fully finished yet.
There are no major European economic data releases or company earnings scheduled for Monday.
