Google Lets Gmail Users Change Their Email Address

Good news for Gmail users! Google has introduced a new feature that allows you to change your existing Gmail address without losing your emails, photos, or other data. This is perfect if you’ve been stuck with an old or embarrassing email from school.

Currently, the instructions for this feature appear on the Hindi version of Google’s support page, so it seems the rollout may start in India. Google says the feature will gradually reach all users worldwide, but it may take some time.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • When you change your Gmail address, your old email will still work as an alias. Emails sent to the old address will arrive in your inbox.

  • You can keep signing in to Google services like Drive, Maps, and YouTube using your old email.

  • All your existing data, including messages, emails, and photos, will remain unchanged.

  • You can’t change your Gmail address again for 12 months, and you cannot delete the new email address.

Before this update, changing a Gmail address meant creating a new account and manually transferring all your data, which was complicated and risky. This new feature makes it much easier and safer.

No official announcement has been made by Google yet, but the news has already spread through forums and tech communities.
